We must ensure that Indonesian businesses have the capability to seize these opportunities and transform them into transactions.

he Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) is strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian entrepreneurs in export markets through capacity development and the expansion of market access.

“Market opportunities alone are not enough. We must ensure that Indonesian businesses possess the capability to capture those opportunities and convert them into transactions. This means we need to understand what the market requires, and then ensure our businesses are able to meet those needs consistently and competitively,” said Puti Reno Ali, Vice Chairperson of Export Competitiveness at KADIN Indonesia, in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Puti, the measure of success in export development must also consider the progress of businesses after they have gained increased capacity and market access.

What requires attention, she noted, is what happens after businesses have been trained and introduced to the market.

“Are they becoming more prepared, is that access resulting in transactions, are those transactions growing, and are they able to endure? That is where export competitiveness is built,” she said.

The steps to strengthen the export competitiveness of Indonesian businesses were formalised through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between KADIN Indonesia and the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday (2/9).

This agreement is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Trade and KADIN Indonesia, which was signed by Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and the Chairperson of KADIN Indonesia on 1 December 2025.

Through this agreement, the collaboration between both parties enters the implementation phase, focusing on business capacity development, market access expansion, and the enhancement of export competitiveness.

Juan Permata Adoe, Vice Chairperson and Coordinator of KADIN Indonesia, emphasised that the development of exporters must be increasingly directed towards tangible results.

“Success must be visible through an increasing number of Indonesian businesses becoming exporters, an increase in transaction value, and the ability to grow sustainably in the global market,” said Juan.

This approach ensures that programme success is measured not merely by the number of activities conducted, but by their impact—namely, the emergence of new exporters, the opening of new markets, the occurrence of transactions, and the increased capacity of businesses to survive and thrive globally.
