Kadin Reveals One Industry That Must Not Be Left Behind If Indonesia Wants to Master AI
JAKARTA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) believes that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) must be accompanied by strengthening the semiconductor industry and digital infrastructure. This step is considered essential to build a technology ecosystem capable of supporting digital transformation while enhancing the competitiveness of national industry.
Firlie H. Ganinduto, Head of Kadin Indonesia’s Digital Ecosystem Agency, said that AI development cannot be separated from the readiness of the technology ecosystem, which encompasses digital connectivity, telecommunications networks, satellites, data centres, and cloud computing services.
“Digital transformation requires strong collaboration between the government, the business community, associations, and technology players. INTI 2026 can serve as one of the spaces to bring these stakeholders together, opening up partnership opportunities and encouraging the strengthening of an innovative, trusted, and competitive Indonesian digital ecosystem,” Firlie said in a statement on Tuesday (28 July 2026).
According to Firlie, digital infrastructure forms the foundation for the development of AI, the internet of things (IoT), and cybersecurity. These three technologies can then be applied across various sectors, from smart cities, financial technology (fintech), digital banking, and blockchain to digital healthcare services and smart mobility.
Firlie explained that strengthening the semiconductor industry must also proceed in tandem with the development of electronic components, robotics, automation, and drone technology. In his view, mastery of these technologies will improve production process efficiency while reinforcing the competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry.
He added that the interconnection between AI development, digital infrastructure, and the semiconductor industry is expected to accelerate national digital transformation, drive innovation-based economic growth, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the technology industry within the Southeast Asian region.
These views were conveyed ahead of the Indonesia Technology & Innovation (INTI) 2026 event, which will take place on 11–13 August 2026 in Jakarta. The event will bring together industry players, investors, academics, and technology solution providers to discuss the development of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
