Kadin plans national congress
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) plans to hold its five-yearly national congress from Dec. 8 to Dec. 10.
The chamber announced on Thursday that its third national congress would be attended by 800 people representing Kadin's executive board, its provincial chapters, business and industry associations, foreign committees and executives of the chamber's other bodies.
It is scheduled to take place at the Sahid Jaya Hotel in Central Jakarta, and will adopt a theme of rebuilding Indonesia's economy.
During the three-day event, the chamber will elect a new chairperson and executive board and establish its five-year plan. Its current chairman is Aburizal Bakrie, who is also the chairman of the Bakrie and Brothers Group.
The congress is to be held about a month earlier than in past instances in a bid to avoid time conflicts with the Moslem holiday of Idul Fitri in mid-January, the chamber said. (das)
