JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is optimistic that the establishment of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council (FI-HLBC) will strengthen trade and investment relations between Indonesia and France.

The FI-HLBC was launched alongside Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) at the Indonesia-France CEO Forum 2026 in Paris on Thursday (28/5/2026), coinciding with President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to France.

Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie said the business council marks a significant milestone in strengthening economic ties between the two countries, which have shown positive growth trends.

“We have agreed to establish a High-Level Business Council between France and Indonesia. In just the first quarter of this year, bilateral trade reached $1 billion,” Bakrie stated in a press release on Friday (29/5/2026).

According to Bakrie, the cooperation is not only focused on increasing trade and investment but also on creating jobs and improving human resource quality.

“This demonstrates that businesses and the government are truly focused on investment, trade, technological advancement, and human resource development,” he added.

Kadin highlighted several strategic sectors for discussion between the two nations, including energy and minerals, manufacturing, education, healthcare, and human resource development.
