A delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has travelled to China in an effort to increase the value of trade and investment between the two nations.

“Our primary target here is to help increase Indonesia-China trade. It was noted that Indonesia-China trade stands at US$168 billion, but this is still below Malaysia and Vietnam; if we can increase this, it would be beneficial,” stated the General Chair of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Sunday (21/6).

Anindya, commonly known as Anin, visited China to attend several events, including the China International Supply Chain Expo, the APEC CEO Forum in Beijing, the 2026 Summer Davos in Dalian, and meetings with various other partners.

The trade value between Indonesia and China reached US$167.48 billion in 2025, with an increase in Indonesian exports of 16.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, trade value with Hong Kong stands at approximately US$6 billion, bringing the combined total for China and Hong Kong to US$173 billion. However, this figure remains below Malaysia, which reached US$191.66 billion, and Vietnam, which holds the top position as China’s trading partner within ASEAN with a value of US$296.14 billion.

“When we discuss trade, it is not just about the large-scale commodities. While the ‘big three’ are palm oil, coal, and steel, there are many other products with smaller volumes behind them,” Anindya added.

The second objective of Kadin Indonesia’s visit is to increase investment from China into the country.

“Because Indonesia requires investment to achieve economic growth of up to 8 per cent, including job creation, our true goal is to increase both trade and investment figures,” Anindya explained.

Furthermore, Anindya stated that Kadin Indonesia aims to learn from its partners in China to ensure businesses become more resilient, transparent, open, and sustainable.

“We hope there will also be a transfer of knowledge through our various meetings,” Anindya concluded.
