The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), alongside France’s Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), launched the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council (FI-HLBC) during the Indonesia-France CEO Forum 2026, held concurrently with President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to Paris on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie stated that establishing the FI-HLBC is a strategic move to strengthen trade and investment ties between Indonesia and France. ‘We have agreed to form a High-Level Business Council between France and Indonesia,’ he said in a written statement on 28 May 2026.

Anindya noted that bilateral trade between the two nations reached $1 billion in the first quarter of this year. He added that the collaboration extends beyond trade and investment to include vocational education, human resource development, and tourism. Both countries’ tourism sectors, he said, hold significant appeal.

The presence of Presidents Prabowo and Emmanuel Macron at the FI-HLBC launch, he said, underscores both governments’ commitment to fostering closer economic collaboration. Anindya stated that businesses and governments are prioritising investment, trade, technology advancement, and human resource development.

He outlined key sectors under discussion, including energy and minerals, human resources, manufacturing, education, and healthcare. The meeting was also seen as a positive signal for strengthening Indonesia-France economic relations moving forward.
