Kadin Emphasises Job Creation as Key to Boosting National Economy

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has emphasised the importance of job creation as a key to driving national economic growth amid various global challenges. This effort is deemed necessary through increased trade, accelerated industrialisation, and strengthened investment to ensure the business world continues to develop.

This was conveyed by Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie during a Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) on the Kadin Bill with the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Wednesday. In a written statement, Anindya said the current Kadin Law Number 1 of 1987 has served as the organisation’s foundation for decades. However, global economic developments, geopolitical changes, and digital transformation require adjustments so that the business world can address challenges and seize existing opportunities.

According to him, Kadin’s presence at the RDPU aimed to convey the aspirations of business actors from across Indonesia so that the business world can continue to grow, develop, and adapt to changing times. “Because we see the essence is how the business world can continue to thrive, work together, and move up in class,” he said. Anindya explained that Kadin, as the umbrella organisation for various associations, unions, and provincial chambers, continues to strive to be a strategic partner for the government in boosting national economic growth.

“So the point is how we can jointly assist the government as a strategic partner. But the most important thing is how the Indonesian economy can progress,” he stated. Furthermore, Anindya asserted that job creation must be the main focus of national economic development. He noted that Indonesia needs approximately 4 to 5 million new jobs each year to absorb the continuously growing workforce. He added that all discussions with the DPR are directed towards supporting the advancement of the business world while realising the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. According to him, the direction of Indonesia’s economic development is currently on the right track, although it still requires acceleration and modernisation. “The essence is this is for Indonesia. How can we ensure the business world advances and continues to grow, all the way to Indonesia Emas 2045. Amidst many challenges and many people questioning where Indonesia is heading, we see that the direction is already correct. It just needs to be accelerated and modernised,” he concluded.
