The Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) believes the establishment of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council (FI-HLBC) will strengthen trade and investment relations between Indonesia and France.

The FI-HLBC launch, conducted alongside Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) at the Indonesia-France CEO Forum 2026 in Paris on Thursday (28 May 2026), coincided with President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to France.

Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie, in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, said the FI-HLBC’s formation marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade relations, which have shown positive trends.

“We have agreed to establish a High-Level Business Council between France and Indonesia. In the first quarter alone, bilateral trade has risen to $1 billion. This is an impressive growth and I believe it is just the beginning,” said Anindya, also known as Anin.

The FI-HLBC launch at Hotel de Marigny, Palais de l’Elysee Estate in Paris was witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to Anin, the collaboration focuses not only on boosting trade and investment but also on investments that create jobs and improve human resource quality.

He noted the presence of both presidents at the FI-HLBC launch underscores the seriousness of both nations in strengthening long-term economic collaboration.

“This signals that business and government are truly focused on investment, trade, technological advancement, and human resource development. The business community greatly appreciates this support,” Anin added.

Furthermore, Kadin highlighted key strategic sectors for discussion between the two nations, including energy and minerals, human resources, manufacturing, education, and healthcare.

Anin is optimistic that the FI-HLBC will bring broader positive impacts for businesses in both countries and strengthen Indonesia-France economic relations in the future.
