Kadin Chairman Bakrie Takes Swift Action Against Members Involved in Cilegon Contractor Incident
JAKARTA – The incident involving members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the management of PT Chengda, the main contractor for PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) in Cilegon, on Friday (09/05), received a swift and firm response from the central board.
Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie promptly issued an official press statement addressing the disturbance that had occurred.
Through the press release, Anindya stated that Kadin Indonesia rejects all forms of pressure, intimidation, or non-procedural approaches that undermine legal certainty and the continuity of investment in Indonesia.
"To safeguard the dignity of the organisation and support investment activities, Kadin will take several steps, including establishing a verification team to conduct a direct evaluation of the structure, roles, and actions of Kadin Cilegon City," said Anindya in his press statement on Tuesday (13/05).
Beyond that, the organisation will also recommend institutional sanctions if violations are proven, submit an official report to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and the regional government, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Kadin's involvement in National Strategic Projects (PSN).
"Kadin will also conduct an internal audit of the institutional structure and activities of Kadin Cilegon City and Kadin Banten Province. The audit results will be submitted to the Ministry of Investment or BKPM and the Banten Provincial Government as an official clarification," Anindya explained.
According to him, Kadin is committed to providing institutional protection to investors and safeguarding the reputation of the organisation and the business community.
"Any deviation from these principles will be dealt with firmly within the framework of the articles of association and prevailing national law," Anindya affirmed.
