Kadin Bill Under Discussion, Anindya Bakrie: To Elevate Regional MSMEs

The Working Committee (Panja) for the drafting of the Law on the Indonesian Chamber of Ordanance and Industry, or Kadin Indonesia, has begun discussions on amendments to Law Number 1 of 1987 concerning Kadin.

In this regard, the Working Committee held a Public Hearing (RDPU) with the leadership of Kadin Indonesia, including the General Chairman, Anindya Bakrie.

Anindya stated that one of the main focuses is to improve MSMEs, including cooperatives, particularly those located in regional areas.

“We need to convey here that 92% of the GDP comes from the business world. Secondly, we also see that the number of MSMEs is significant; approximately 95% of business units are MSMEs,” he said at the Parliament building on Wednesday, 2 September 2026.

Anindya mentioned that, as mandated by the 1987 Law, Kadin Indonesia, as a forum for the business world, aims to become more effective while remaining aligned with the principles of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

“We discussed maintaining the principles of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, while prioritising the issue of Kadin’s independence. After all, we represent the business community,” he explained.

The man affectionately known as Anin noted that his side is also highlighting efforts for MSMEs to ‘move up a class’ for collective progress.

“More attention is needed so they can scale up and progress together. Our colleagues from the Provincial Kadin offices also provided an overview of the situation on the ground, showing that Kadin has already done a great deal,” he remarked.

On the other hand, he expressed that if Kadin Indonesia is granted specific authority or special status in this sector, he ensures that Kadin intends to remain a non-profit organisation.

“We do not use the government budget. What we need is close cooperation to conduct certification, training, coaching, and certainly to ensure that accreditation is well-managed,” he revealed.

“This is so that everyone possesses strong quality and standards from the perspective of associations, federations, and, of course, the entrepreneurs themselves,” he added.

Therefore, Anin emphasised that this Kadin Bill aims to make Indonesia more competitive and help the nation escape the middle-income trap, positioning the business world as the primary engine for exiting that zone.
