Kabais Hands Over Position, PDIP Demands Investigation into Mastermind Behind KontraS Activist Attack

Member of the House of Representatives’ Commission I, TB Hasanuddin, has highlighted the handover of the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) position in the aftermath of the acid splashing incident against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. TB Hasanuddin described the Kabais’s resignation as an example of a leader’s responsibility.

“That’s how it is; as Kabais, who also bears moral responsibility for the actions of his subordinates—yes, Bais members carried out the splashing, a criminal act against an activist. We respect his decision to step down,” said TB Hasanuddin to reporters on Thursday (26/3/2026).

Nevertheless, TB Hasanuddin stated that the Kabais’s resignation does not automatically halt the ongoing investigation process. This PDIP legislator wants the mastermind who issued instructions to the TNI Bais members to be revealed to the public.

“That’s an example. If subordinates commit an act, the commander, as a form of moral accountability, steps down. So we express our respect. But does the matter end there? Not yet,” said TB Hasanuddin.

“The investigation and prosecution processes must continue until we find out who the mastermind is, the designer. Not the perpetrator, but the brain, the conceptor, so that the order was issued,” he stressed.

He hopes that the party giving the orders will be revealed to the public openly. TB Hasanuddin wants the investigation into the case to target all levels within the TNI.

“It must be open to the public. It must be conducted openly. At the mid-level or up to the Kabais, or even possibly above the Kabais, we don’t know either,” he added.

It is known that the TNI conducted a handover of the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) position. This was done as a form of TNI accountability following the acid splashing case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus involving a TNI Bais member.

“So we need to convey here, as a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out. Thank you,” said TNI Chief of Information, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, to reporters at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3).
