The inaugural operation of the KA Pandalungan 2 train service on the Gambir–Jember route was warmly received by the public, achieving a 97.5 per cent occupancy rate with 390 passengers on board. Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 1 Jakarta, stated that the high number of passengers on the first day demonstrates the public’s need for comfortable, safe, and punctual long-distance train services to East Java, particularly Jember. Out of a total capacity of 400 seats, 390 were filled. “This shows that the public welcomes the presence of a new travel alternative from Jakarta to Jember and other strategic cities on Java Island,” Franoto said. The breakdown of passengers departing from Daop 1 Jakarta on the first day was 330 from Gambir Station, 49 from Bekasi Station, and 11 from Cikarang Station. KA Pandalungan 2 departs from Gambir Station at 09.25 WIB and arrives at Jember Station at 23.20 WIB. The train uses a Stainless Steel Executive Class trainset offering passenger comfort, with a total capacity of 400 seats across eight executive carriages. In addition to serving the Jakarta–Jember route, KA Pandalungan 2 also facilitates access to a number of important cities along the northern and eastern corridors of Java, stopping at Bekasi, Cikarang, Cirebon, Tegal, Pekalongan, Semarang Tawang, Ngrombo, Cepu, Bojonegoro, Lamongan, Surabaya Pasarturi, Surabaya Gubeng, Sidoarjo, Bangil, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Klakah, Tanggul, and Rambipuji, before terminating at Jember Station. Franoto noted that the operation of KA Pandalungan 2 is part of KAI’s commitment to continuously improving services and expanding travel options for the public. The new service not only increases passenger transport capacity but also strengthens intercity connectivity. Passengers now have more schedule choices for travel to Central Java, East Java, and Jember with a comfortable, safe, and congestion-free train service. For the inaugural journey on 18 June 2026, a 30 per cent discount was applied, bringing the fare to Rp525,000. The normal fare will subsequently be applied, starting from Rp750,000 on weekdays and Rp800,000 on weekends, in accordance with applicable tariff regulations. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta expressed gratitude for the public’s trust in choosing the train as their preferred mode of transport and pledged to continue delivering safe, comfortable, and punctual services to meet mobility needs.
