KA Gajayana Hits Car in Bekasi, Driver Dies Trapped Inside
A car was hit by the KA Gajayana train at the Bulak Kapal level crossing on Jalan Pahlawan, Aren Jaya, East Bekasi, Bekasi City, in the early hours of the morning. One person was reported dead in the incident. “It is true, one person died,” said AKP Rojali, Head of the Traffic Accident Unit at the Bekasi City Metro Police, when contacted on Monday (27/7). Rojali stated the accident occurred around 00:50 WIB. It began when the victim, identified as Alfarouk (24), the driver of a Mitsubishi Triton, was travelling along Jalan Pahlawan. “According to witness statements, two cars were travelling on Jalan HM Joyo Martono towards Jalan Pahlawan and the manual level crossing barrier was open,” he said. Rojali explained that the first car managed to cross safely. However, as the victim’s car was crossing, the KA Gajayana additional service suddenly arrived from the west heading east. “As a result, the Mitsubishi Triton double cabin with registration number B-9920-FSW was hit and dragged approximately 30 metres,” he said. Due to the accident, the driver was trapped and died. “The car was severely damaged and the driver died trapped inside the vehicle,” he concluded.
