KA Director's Response to Alleged Signal Error Before Bekasi Train Crash
A video of a man in a KAI uniform claiming a suspected signal error before the train accident (KA) involving Argo Bromo Anggrek and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station has gone viral on social media. The President Director (Dirut) of PT KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that his company is awaiting the results of the investigation conducted by the KNKT.
Based on the video viewed on Wednesday (29/4/2026), the man in the KAI uniform in the viral video said there was a suspected signal error, causing the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek to crash into the KRL. In response, Bobby Rasyidin revealed that his side supports the KNKT investigation regarding the exact cause of the collision.
“Of course, as I have stated before, we fully support the investigation currently being and will be conducted by the KNKT. And of course, we will comply with and follow all recommendations that will be made by the KNKT. For the time being, that is what I can answer,” Bobby explained during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City.
On the same occasion, Bobby emphasised that KRL services at Bekasi Timur Station are planned to reopen on Wednesday (29/4) afternoon. Everything will be ensured to operate as before.
“Insyaallah, this afternoon we will open our KRL services, the Cikarang Line, which will operate with the same frequency as before,” he said.
Bobby stressed that passenger safety is KAI’s priority. His side does not want to lower the safety level.
“We also need to emphasise that safety is our priority. We have absolutely no tolerance for violating or lowering the safety level,” he said.
Bobby explained that the operational reopening will be done gradually. Everything is based on instructions from the KNKT.
“The process will be carried out gradually. And at this time, we have received clearance from the KNKT that the track can be used, with the condition of speed restrictions,” he explained.
Previously, the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek crashed into the KRL that was stopped at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night. The incident began with a taxi becoming stuck under the KRL at a crossing not far from Bekasi Timur Station.
The taxi becoming stuck under the KRL caused the KRL at Bekasi Station to wait. The KA Argo Bromo Anggrek then arrived and collided from behind. The train accident claimed 15 lives and injured dozens of people.
