KA Ciremai Trapped in Landslide Near Sasaksaat Tunnel, Rail Line Disrupted

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 2 Bandung has issued an apology to all customers, particularly passengers on the KA Ciremai service from Semarang Tawang to Bandung, whose journeys have been disrupted by a landslide in the Maswati-Sasaksaat section on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. The incident forced the KA Ciremai to stop temporarily at the affected location, specifically at KM 142+8/9 in the Maswati-Sasaksaat section. This disruption resulted from heavy rain and natural conditions beyond KAI’s operational control. Initial information about the incident was received by the Bandung Daop 2 Operations Control Centre from the KA Ciremai crew on Wednesday, 1 April 2026 at 14:53 WIB. Upon receiving the report, personnel immediately coordinated intensively to ensure the safety of train operations and handle the situation on the ground. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, stated that customer safety is the top priority in all operational conditions. “We apologise for the inconvenience experienced by KA Ciremai passengers due to this travel disruption. Currently, the train must stop temporarily as a safety measure while awaiting the completion of handling at the site,” said Kuswardojo when contacted. Kuswardojo added that upon receiving the information, the entire KAI Daop 2 Bandung Emergency Response Team moved quickly to prepare handling measures, including potential evacuation efforts and clearing landslide material from the tracks. Infrastructure personnel along with related teams have been dispatched to the location to address the track section and evacuate the KA Ciremai if necessary. As a result of this incident, the Maswati-Sasaksaat section is temporarily blocked and cannot be traversed by trains. KAI is also continuing to coordinate with relevant parties to expedite the handling process. KAI Daop 2 Bandung assures that it will continue to provide the latest updates to customers regarding developments in this situation through official channels. Passengers are advised to remain calm and follow instructions from on-site personnel.
