PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung evacuated passengers of the KA Ciremai train on the Semarang Tawang-Bandung route by bus to continue their journey, after the train came to a complete halt due to a landslide burying the tracks in the Maswati-Sasaksaat section in West Bandung on Wednesday.

In addition to evacuating passengers via an overstay scheme, KAI Daop 2 Bandung ensured that all passengers and crew of the KA numbered 174B were safe from the landslide incident, which also struck the train and caused the locomotive to derail.

Kuswardojo, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, in West Bandung on Wednesday, emphasised that although operations were significantly disrupted, the safety of lives remains the top priority in handling the track obstruction.

“We ensure that all passengers and crew of the KA Ciremai are in safe condition. KAI always prioritises safety aspects in every operational decision-making,” said Kuswardojo.

Additionally, cancellations of some routes were implemented for several train sets, including KA Harina (102), KA Papandayan (129B), KA Serayu (288-289), KA Ciremai, and KA Commuter Line Garut (349 and 350).

“We extend our deepest apologies to all customers for the inconvenience caused by this landslide,” Kuswardojo stated.

Currently, infrastructure and facility personnel have been deployed to the location to clear the landslide material in order to accelerate the normalisation of the tracks.

“We urge all customers not to panic and to always follow instructions from the officers for the smooth handling process and collective safety,” he added.
