KA Bangunkarta Derailment: KAI Daop 5 Prepares 10 Buses to Transport Passengers
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 5 Purwokerto, Central Java, has prepared 10 buses to evacuate passengers of the KA Bangunkarta on the Jombang–Pasar Senen route. This follows the incident of three train carriages derailing at Bumiayu Station on Monday (6/4) around 14:15 WIB.
This step is taken to accelerate the handling of the travel disruption’s impact while ensuring passengers can continue their journey safely. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, stated that the company extends its apologies for the inconvenience experienced by customers due to the incident.
“We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced by KA Bangunkarta passengers due to this travel disruption,” he said.
He explained that the derailment occurred at kilometre 312+1, specifically at points 21A and 21B, rendering the rail line at the location temporarily impassable in both upstream and downstream directions.
As a swift response, KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto immediately deployed an emergency response team to the site to evacuate the train carriages and address the affected rail line.
“All personnel, along with the relevant team, are at the location to carry out the evacuation and handling of the rail line,” As’ad said.
Additionally, KAI is conducting intensive coordination with various parties to expedite the track recovery process so that train operations can return to normal as soon as possible. According to him, the current primary focus remains on the evacuation process, while the exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto assures that it will continue to provide the latest updates through official channels and urges passengers to remain calm and follow the instructions of on-site personnel. As a form of service commitment, KAI strives to handle the situation maximally while prioritising safety aspects.
