K-9 Police Dogs Track Suspected Brutal Robbery Perpetrator in Bekasi
BEKASI – The Police Animal Division deployed K-9 tracking dogs to trace the perpetrator in an alleged robbery case that killed EU (65) and critically injured his wife PW (60) at Prima Lingkar Asri Housing Complex, Jatibening Village, Pondok Gede District, Bekasi City on Monday 2 March 2026.
Based on observations at the scene, the tracking dogs first swept through the interior of the victim’s house. The K-9 unit then moved outside the house and traversed vacant land leading towards Kalimalang Road, not far from the incident location.
Approximately 20 to 30 metres from the victim’s house, the tracking dog stopped at a former motorcycle washing facility building now used as a scrap materials storage site. The K-9 remained at that point for roughly 15 minutes. However, during the search operation, the tracking dog showed no strong reaction or indication of evidence or suspicious traces in the area.
Head of Criminal Investigation Division (Kasat Reskrim) of Metro Bekasi City Police Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal revealed that the suspected perpetrator allegedly entered the house through a window in the early morning. “Based on our crime scene analysis, entry was via a window. The window in the front corner of the house was damaged,” Andi stated when met at the location on Monday.
According to Andi, the suspect likely first scaled the front fence of the house bordering vacant land near Kalimalang Road. This theory was strengthened by findings of footprints on the victim’s fence. “The suspect likely came over the front wall and climbed onto the gate. In front it is vacant land,” Andi said.
During the incident, the victims’ youngest child with initials DNA was inside the house. However, the child claimed not to hear any commotion. “The child did not hear anything. The child was asleep from 1 am with no disturbances. The child also still saw the parents at 10 am,” Andi explained.
The victim’s house was not equipped with security cameras (CCTV). Nevertheless, police are examining CCTV footage from neighbouring houses near the incident location.
Regarding the murder motive, Andi stated that the investigation is still ongoing. However, initial indications suggest robbery. He said police have secured several pieces of evidence from the scene. “We are currently securing bedsheets with blood and items showing indication,” he said.
The victim’s body was taken to Polri Hospital Kramat Jati for autopsy. Meanwhile, PW remains under intensive care at Primaya Hospital.
Andi stated that the investigation involves personnel from Pondok Gede Police Sector, Metro Bekasi City Police, and the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Jatanras) to uncover the perpetrator and motive.
