Juwono to open photo exhibition
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Education and Culture Juwono Sudarsono is scheduled to open a photo exhibition on the student movement at Bentara Budaya on Jl. Palmerah Selatan, 25 in Central Jakarta today.
The four-day exhibition has been put together by students from the University of Indonesia to commemorate Indonesia's 53rd anniversary of independence, Deny Rahman Saleh, head of the organizing committee, said.
The exhibition entitled "Witnesses of 1998's student actions" features photographs of student activities during the downfall of the New Order government, he said.
A book entitled Post-Soeharto Reform Agenda will also be launched during the exhibition, he said.
"The book consists of selected writings of experts and University of Indonesia students," he said in a media statement.
The exhibition will open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Photographs on display will be for sale.
A discussion on photography will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m and a dialog on press freedom will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The latter will feature Minister of Information M. Yunus Yosfiah, SCTV's reporting coordinator Sumita Tobing and Sigid E. Mardeo from Forum Keadilan magazine as speakers. (ivy)
