Juvenile court bill studied

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Experts at the Antasari Islamic Studies Institute will discuss the controversial bill on juvenile court, Antara reported yesterday.

The seminar will be held next Wednesday and Thursday, and will study the bill from various perspectives, including sociological, legal and educational.

Spokesman Masdari said Minister of Religious Affairs Tarmizi Taher and the Minister of Justice were expected to attend.

The bill, currently under deliberation by the House of Representatives, has attracted criticism from Moslem groups for reportedly violating Islamic teaching on issues such as adoption.
