Jusuf Kalla, the General Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), has urged all mosque administrators across Indonesia to hold joint prayers and read Qunut Nazilah during Friday prayers tomorrow (6 March).

The call was made by the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia as a form of collective prayers for peace in various parts of the world currently afflicted by conflict.

“We hope that all mosques in Indonesia, during tomorrow’s Friday prayers, will offer prayers and read Qunut Nazilah so that the conflicts taking place around the world may soon be resolved and peace restored,” Jusuf Kalla said in a statement from Jakarta on Thursday.

Kalla said the holy month of Ramadan provides an opportune moment to seek the mercy and assistance of Allah SWT, especially for countries experiencing conflict.

He noted that the Islamic world is currently facing various problems and tensions in several regions, particularly in Iran, with spillover effects extending to other countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine.

Kalla hopes that Allah SWT will soon answer the prayers of Muslims in Indonesia, so that people in conflict areas are granted safety and strength, and lasting peace is achieved.

“May Ramadan bring us all strength and may the Muslim world, particularly in Iran, the Middle East, and Palestine, obtain peace from Allah SWT,” he said.

Jusuf Kalla also hopes that Muslims will use Ramadan to strengthen solidarity and concern for fellow Muslims around the world.
