Jusuf Kalla Urges Global Unity for Gaza Rehabilitation

Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) hopes that Eid al-Adha serves as a moment for the world to unite in rehabilitating Muslim communities in Gaza, Palestine, still in conflict. ‘May they agree, may the world unite to rehabilitate Gaza. Yes, that’s the issue,’ Jusuf Kalla told reporters after performing Eid prayers at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta on Wednesday (27 May 2026), as reported by Antara. JK noted that conditions in Gaza this Eid al-Adha were relatively calmer compared to last year. During the event, he emphasised the importance of the international community’s role in addressing humanitarian impacts in Palestine. Therefore, he urged world nations to unite during this Eid al-Adha to restore Gaza. ‘Yes, Gaza is somewhat better off compared to last year. Last year was filled with attacks, now there’s a ceasefire,’ he said. ‘As mentioned in the sermon earlier, we must always remember sacrifice, unity, worship, and faith in Allah,’ he added. Regarding this year’s Eid al-Adha, JK said he performed the sacrificial rites at multiple locations. Not only in Jakarta, but he also sent sacrificial animals to his hometown in Makassar and West Sumatra.
