Jusuf Kalla remembers Rachmat Gobel as a good person
Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, known as JK, remembered the late Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, Rachmat Gobel, as a person who was very kind to everyone. According to him, Rachmat Gobel shared a similar path, being both an entrepreneur and a politician. Besides being a good person, JK noted that Gobel possessed broad knowledge. “He was friends with everyone. He understood problems and was very friendly, that was his character,” said Jusuf Kalla after attending the funeral ceremony at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta on Friday. JK recalled that Rachmat Gobel always attended event invitations punctually. He said the deceased, who studied abroad, was a diligent figure. “That was Mr. Rachmat Gobel, the deceased. Yes, a very good person,” he said. The funeral procession for Rachmat Gobel took place at around 14:50 Western Indonesia Time, preceded by a speech from the ceremony inspector. The body was then interred, accompanied by the rifle volleys typical of a military funeral ceremony. At the funeral home in the Tebet area of South Jakarta, a number of prominent figures also paid their respects, including the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board, Dony Oskaria, and Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade. Rachmat Gobel, who served as Trade Minister under President Joko Widodo and as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, breathed his last in the early hours of Friday.
