Jusuf Kalla Meets Prabowo at the Palace

Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, after previously requesting time to meet the head of state. Based on official footage from the Presidential Secretariat, JK arrived at the Palace complex around 15.00 WIB, accompanied by his son, Solihin Kalla, who now serves as president director of Kalla Group. Upon arrival, JK and Solihin were greeted by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and directed to a meeting room to meet President Prabowo. In the footage, Prabowo appeared to personally welcome JK and Solihin, shaking hands before inviting them to sit down for the meeting. Previously, Teddy disclosed that the meeting request had been submitted by JK several days ago, noting that JK had planned to come with his son, who is active in the business world. ‘Vice President Jusuf Kalla requested time to meet President Prabowo a few days ago. He intended to come with his son, who is also a businessman,’ Teddy said in an official statement. Teddy did not disclose the specific agenda discussed, but mentioned that Prabowo has maintained open communication channels with various national figures, including those from the business community. According to Teddy, communication and cordial relations with different elements of the nation are part of an effort to build collaboration in support of national development. The meeting between JK and Prabowo took place amidst public attention on a number of economic issues that have emerged recently. On several previous occasions, JK has also voiced his views on the nation’s fiscal and economic conditions. ‘An economic crisis is related to fiscal matters. Fiscal refers to money, budgets, and so on. So, to overcome it, expenditure must be reduced, and income increased,’ JK said in a public seminar.
