Jakarta (ANTARA) - Thousands of worshippers performed Eid al-Adha prayers for 1447 Hijri at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, starting at 7:10 am WIB on Wednesday. Worshippers spread across the main green field, the mosque, and the mosque’s car park to carry out their prayers. Vendors also offered prayer mats at Rp15,000 to those without their own. Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla (10th and 12th terms) and former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Jimly Asshiddiqie (2003-2008) also attended the prayer at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in Kebayoran Baru. Kalla arrived at 6.30 am wearing a white shirt and grey suit, along with a green checkered sarong and black songkok. In his sermon, Din Syamsuddin said, “Muslims must stand up and rise. Save Indonesia, liberate it from wrongdoing. An independent, sovereign, and just Indonesia in line with the founders’ vision.” The Eid al-Adha prayer for 1447 Hijri at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque’s field in Kebayoran Baru was conducted solemnly, with worshippers filling the grounds and mosque courtyard. Din Syamsuddin, who previously served as Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), delivered the sermon, with prayers led by Dr. Agus Nur Qowim.
