Businessman Jusuf Hamka intends to pursue legal action after a court rejected a Rp1 trillion civil lawsuit filed against him. He stated he will report parties suspected of committing unlawful acts during the previous trial proceedings.

Jusuf Hamka said there are allegations of criminal offences, including providing false testimony and using backdated letters, involving a commissioner at a media company with the initials TS.

“This is a form of criminalisation against me. There was coaching of our former finance manager during the trial to create a fake letter and give false testimony. We will report this to the authorities,” Jusuf Hamka said at Pasar Lama in Tangerang City on Saturday (13/6).

In addition to planning a criminal report, he also intends to issue a letter of demand for debt collection and claim reimbursement for a number of personal expenses he previously covered for the interests of the related party.

Meanwhile, Jusuf Hamka’s legal counsel, Sogi, said they are finalising supporting evidence before officially filing the report with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. He mentioned they are currently discussing the technicalities with Jusuf Hamka while ensuring they will pursue legal remedies.

Regarding the value of the claim in the next legal step, Sogi said they are still performing careful calculations.

“All supporting evidence and documents have been collected, organised, and thoroughly verified. We are currently just finalising the technical aspects of the report. An official report will be submitted in the near future,” Sogi said.

Jusuf Hamka’s company, PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP), is in a legal dispute with PT MNC Asia Holding, Tbk. (formerly PT Bhakti Investama, Tbk), owned by businessman and founder of the Perindo Party, Bambang Hary Iswanto Tanoesoedibjo, also known as Hary Tanoe.

Most recently, Hary Tanoe filed an appeal regarding the case involving Jusuf Hamka’s toll road company. The Central Jakarta District Court ruling ordered Hary Tanoe and MNC to pay a fine of Rp531 billion to PT CMNP. However, this ruling has not yet obtained permanent legal force, or inkrah.

“Appeal application status: appeal application accepted,” according to the Electronic Appeal Detail Information disseminated by MNC on Wednesday (6/5) evening.
