Justice in law enforcement
Justice in law enforcement
From Koran Tempo
The Jakarta provincial administration has been carrying out a
series of evictions to enforce the law. Among the targets of
these evictions are makeshift houses on riverbanks and buildings
that violate city layout plans.
So far, ordinary people, with little knowledge of the legal
system, have been the victims. Will the law similarly apply to
the wealthy who are backed by attorneys?
A house owned by an official in Jakarta's Menteng area is
reportedly located in a zone which is set to be rehabilitated. A
building owned by the environment minister's office is located
alongside the Cipinang river.
Now, the ordinary people of Jakarta are waiting to see if
justice is upheld. Will the governor of Jakarta order the two
buildings to be demolished without discrimination?
