Just One Day After Launch, iPhone Duo Users Complain of Screen Problems
Several iPhone Duo owners have reported problems with the foldable phone’s main screen. The complaints emerged on Saturday (24 October 2026), just one day after the Apple device was launched.
According to several posts on Reddit, affected iPhone Duo units have the same issue. A dark line first appears on the internal screen along the hinge, accompanied by an unusual white line stretching down the right side of the display, resembling a ‘lightsaber’.
One owner affected by the problem is Reddit user u/Midnight_Slump, who said he had had the iPhone Duo for just six hours after collecting it from a shop.
During that time, u/Midnight_Slump said he had opened the phone fewer than 20 times. While showing it to a friend, he felt something in the internal hinge beneath the screen.
‘As I continued opening it, I heard a distinct cracking sound, and the screen broke right along the hinge,’ u/Midnight_Slump wrote in a post, as reported by detikInet on Sunday (25 October 2026).
‘There were no marks or damage to the surface of the inner screen or the external hinge to indicate that anything had been trapped or damaged,’ he added.
U/Midnight_Slump, who is based in Australia, took the faulty iPhone Duo to his nearest Apple Store. He said Apple immediately apologised and replaced the damaged unit with a new one.
Apple is likely to collect affected iPhone Duo units for investigation to determine the cause of the problem. The findings will be used to prevent the issue from recurring.

In addition to u/Midnight_Slump, the iPhone Duo forum on Reddit has been flooded with other users posting photos of foldable phones with the same lightsaber-like issue. Some of the photos appear to show iPhone Duo demo units in China.
The scale of the problem is not yet known. Hinge damage arising from normal use should be covered by the one-year warranty, and customers currently receiving an iPhone Duo have two weeks to return it.
