South Tangerang, Kompas.com - Plastic rubbish bags have piled up again on Jalan Pemuda, Ciputat, South Tangerang, on Monday (27/4/2026). However, just one day earlier, on Sunday (26/4/2026), the rubbish pile was collected by sanitation officers. Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location, several red and black plastic bags are stacked on the road surface, reaching a height of about 50 centimetres (cm). Swarms of flies are buzzing around, disturbing the traders in the vicinity. One of the traders at the location, Lia (37), said that the rubbish pile is not a new occurrence. According to her, rubbish always accumulates every day despite regular collections. “Indeed, there is always rubbish every day. For example, it’s collected in the afternoon, and the next morning it’s already there again,” said Lia when met by Kompas.com at the location on Monday (27/4/2026). The location is actually not a designated rubbish disposal site. Moreover, the traders in the surrounding area have their own paid rubbish collection system. “We also dispose of our rubbish in the proper place and have someone to collect it. But still, some people throw it here,” she said. When the situation worsens, the rubbish pile can block almost the entire road surface. “When it’s bad, cars can’t pass at all. Motorcycles also have to take turns because only one lane is left,” she stated. The condition directly impacts the traders’ income. Lia admitted that her trading turnover has dropped drastically due to the foul smell and the abundance of flies around the location.
