JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The long wait for Jakarta residents has finally paid off. Taman Bendera Pusaka on Jalan Barito, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, was officially opened on Saturday (14/3/2026).

Previously, Taman Bendera Pusaka was targeted for completion in February 2026, but it was delayed to March 2026 due to several unfinished tasks, including the construction of a wastewater treatment installation (IPAL).

This park combines three previous parks in the Blok M area, namely Taman Ayodya, Taman Leuser, and Taman Langsat, with a more spacious, neatly arranged, and modern appearance.

“With an area of around 5.6 hectares and a 1.2-kilometre jogging track, this park is expected to become one of the choices for public spaces for Jakarta residents to exercise or engage in activities,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, quoted from an official statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

In addition to green trees, Taman Bendera Pusaka is dominated by red and white colours on several facilities, including bridges, pedestrian paths, open spaces, and directional signs.

The park’s design is indeed inspired by the philosophy of Sang Saka Merah Putih, embodied through two main zones: the red zone, which is active and dynamic, and the white zone, which is calm and reflective.

Along the pedestrian paths of Taman Bendera Pusaka, visitors can find various vegetation elements consisting of 12 types of plants with a total of around 285 trees, including several rare trees such as menteng, eboni, cempaka, and kecapi.

When asked by security officer Sutamto from Jakarta’s Internal Security (Pamdal), he said that the northern area of Taman Bendera Pusaka is not yet 100% complete.

Pramono also mentioned that the construction of Taman Bendera Pusaka had only reached 92% when it was inaugurated on Saturday (14/3/2026).

Although the park area already looks neat, the toilets on the northern side cannot yet be used. The “Taman Bendera Pusaka” sign lights in this area have not yet lit up like those in the southern area.

Nevertheless, visitors are still allowed to enter and exit or simply stop by the northern area to run or take a leisurely walk to breathe fresh air.

Furthermore, Pramono emphasised that the construction of Taman Bendera Pusaka did not use the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

“The construction of this park is entirely the result of cooperation with the private sector through the Building Floor Coefficient (KLB) mechanism and the Letter of Principle Agreement for Location/Land Release (SP3L), so it does not use APBD funds,” he explained.
