A male junior secondary school student with initials AG in North Parigi District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, was found dead in an agricultural area. Police are investigating the case.

“We have indeed received a report from the community regarding the discovery of a student’s body,” said Head of Public Relations of Parigi Moutong Police Station, First Inspector Arbit, in a statement on Sunday, 1 March.

The victim, initials AG, a grade 3 junior secondary school student, was discovered at approximately 08.00 WITA in the vicinity of a coconut plantation owned by a resident. The matter was subsequently reported to police.

“Community members flocked to the location before police personnel eventually cordoned off the scene and conducted an investigation of the crime scene,” he explained.

Currently, according to Arbit, investigators are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of death by interviewing several witnesses and identifying the victim’s body.

“At present, the case is still under investigation. We are collecting witness statements and awaiting results of further examination to determine the precise cause of the victim’s death,” he clarified.

Police appealed to the public not to speculate or disseminate unverified information.

“We urge the public to remain calm and entrust the handling process entirely to police authorities. Do not readily believe in issues that may not be accurate as they can worsen the situation,” he stated.
