A junior secondary school student identified as STN (14) was brutally murdered by a relative, FGR (16), in Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The victim was killed after refusing the perpetrator’s attempt to force her into sexual relations.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Sikka Police Station, Inspector Reinhard Dionisius Siga, stated the incident occurred on Friday, 20 February. Initially, the victim came to the perpetrator’s house to retrieve a guitar. The perpetrator then forced her into sexual relations.

“Tensions escalated when FRG snatched the victim’s mobile phone, followed by physical contact between the two. In an uncontrolled emotional state, FRG used a machete—previously used to cut durian—to brutally assault the victim,” Reinhard explained.

According to Reinhard, the perpetrator repeatedly struck the victim’s neck and head with the machete until she died at the scene. The perpetrator attempted to conceal the victim’s body behind the house by covering it with taro leaves and bamboo. Feeling unsafe, the perpetrator moved the victim’s body to the Watuwogat River.

“FRG moved the victim to a second location at the river and covered her with wood and leaves before eventually fleeing to Ende regency,” he added.

The perpetrator has been apprehended and designated as a suspect. FRG has been charged under Article 473(2)(b) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code and Article 80(3) of Law Number 35 of 2014 amending Law Number 23 of 2002 on child protection.
