A junior high school student with the initials YS (16) stabbed a primary school teacher named Sri Khodijah (47) in South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra. The teacher died from her stab wounds.

Sri died after being stabbed when she caught the student stealing. The incident occurred at the victim’s home in the SD 4 Buay Pemaca teacher housing complex on Tuesday (9/6/2026).

Following the stabbing, Sri was taken to hospital and received intensive care. However, she was later pronounced dead.

Buay Pemaca Police Chief Ipda Redi Saputra stated that the victim had just returned home and discovered a burglary in progress.

‘When she entered the house, the victim saw a thief. It is suspected that the perpetrator panicked, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim in the stomach. After that, the perpetrator fled, leaving the victim,’ he said on Sunday (14/6/2026).

Redi explained that Sri managed to run out of the house and call for help from neighbours. She was immediately rushed to Muaradua Regional Hospital. After receiving treatment there, the victim was referred to a hospital in Palembang.

‘After two days of treatment following the stabbing, on Thursday (11/6/2026) the victim was pronounced dead. The victim’s family then filed a report with the Buay Pemaca Police regarding the incident,’ Redi stated.

Following the incident, police immediately processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses. A kitchen knife measuring 35 centimetres, believed to have been used by the perpetrator to stab the victim, was secured as evidence.

‘The identity of the perpetrator has been confirmed and we are continuing to pursue the perpetrator and her parents,’ he concluded.

The perpetrator, YS, fled together with her parents. Police are currently searching for them and have urged them to surrender.

‘The perpetrator and her parents are believed to have fled,’ said Ipda Redi. ‘We have identified the perpetrator and are continuing to pursue her and her parents. We urge them to surrender immediately.’
