Junior High School Student in Grobogan Dies After Sarong Fight, Six Teenagers Detained by Police
A junior high school student in Grobogan, Central Java, with the initials ZMR (16), died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday, 26 February 2026, in the early hours of the morning.
According to information obtained, the victim had initially participated in a sarong fight in Termas Village, Karangrayung District, Grobogan. However, the victim’s friends reported that the victim had an accident and his motorcycle was covered in mud.
The police then launched an investigation into the alleged suspicious death in Grobogan, Central Java.
“We are still investigating the reports that the victim had an accident and his motorcycle was covered in mud, as claimed by his friends. We have investigated this and are currently in the process of investigation,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grobogan Police, AKP Rizky Ari, on Thursday.
The police, continued AKP Rizky, have so far summoned and questioned witnesses.
At least six witnesses have been questioned and are still undergoing further examination regarding the death of ZMR (16), a third-grade junior high school student.
“There are six witnesses who have been questioned and detained,” he added.
According to the police, the six detainees are the victim’s friends, who are also minors according to the Child Protection Law.
Therefore, the police will conduct a thorough investigation to solve the case that led to the death of MZR.
Before being declared dead, the victim was rushed to the nearest community health centre.
Because they were unable to handle the situation, the health centre transferred the victim to the dr R Soedjati Purwodadi Regional General Hospital. However, fate had other plans, and ZMR was declared dead, and the victim’s body was placed in the morgue of the dr R Soedjati Regional General Hospital.
The victim’s family, Muhnadi, said that they only found out about the victim’s condition about 30 minutes after the incident, when his friends brought ZMR home.
“My grandson was brought home, and then the victim’s mother asked for him to be immediately taken to the health centre,” said Muhnadi.
The victim received treatment at the health centre until 03:00 WIB, but ZMR’s condition did not improve, and he was eventually referred to the dr R Soedjati Regional General Hospital, Purwodadi.
Unfortunately, the ninth-grade student’s life could not be saved, and he was declared dead. According to Muhnadi, bruises were found on the back of his grandson’s neck.
