Junior c'ship opens today

JAKARTA (JP): A total of 126 budding athletes from 18
Indonesian provinces will compete in the junior national
gymnastics championship at the Senayan Volleyball Hall this
morning.

"The objective of this national championship is to scout
talents," Andi Darusalam Tabusala of the Indonesian Gymnastics
Association said in a statement yesterday.

Andi urged coaches not to force their rookies into doing
movements too difficult for them. Joint evaluation on the
recently concluded Southeast Asian Junior Championships here
showed that many gymnasts have not completely mastered even the
basic routines, he added. (arf)
