Jumhur States 300,000 Workers Will Rally at May Day 2026 in Monas

Labour figure Jumhur Hidayat has stated that around 300,000 workers will attend the rally on International Labour Day, or May Day, on 1 May 2026. Jumhur mentioned that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also plans to attend the May Day event at Monas. “The working class, 300,000, yes, we will rally together at Monas,” said Jumhur at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (27/4). On the same day, Jumhur was inaugurated by Prabowo as the Minister of Environment. He replaces Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who was inaugurated by Prabowo as Deputy Minister Coordinator for Food Affairs at the same moment. Regarding the May Day event at Monas, Jumhur said he will arrive there by motorcycle. He plans to attend with around 40,000 workers from Jakarta riding motorcycles. At the same time, Jumhur stated that Prabowo also plans to issue a Presidential Decree on the Task Force for Layoff Mitigation. “So, how to intervene in what can be done by all, especially by the government, to mitigate layoffs and worker welfare,” he said.
