Juice Stall Employee in Cengkareng Arrested After Stealing Boss's Motorcycle

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have arrested a man with the initials O, an employee at a juice stall who stole a motorcycle belonging to his own boss on Jalan Jati, RT 06 RW 12, East Cengkareng, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

“We have taken one suspect with the initials O into custody,” said the Head of Cengkareng Police, Adjunct Commissioner Rahis Fadhillah, to reporters at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Rahis explained that the case, which was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV), came to light after the victim reported it to the police.

The theft began when a witness, who is also an employee, parked the vehicle directly in front of the stall on 10 June 2026 at around 8pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

Then, at around 10pm WIB, the CCTV at the location recorded the motorcycle being ridden away by the suspect O.

“The suspect took advantage of the situation, as the complainant was serving customers at the time,” said Rahis.

The victim then reported the incident to Cengkareng Police. Upon receiving the report, the Criminal Investigation Unit immediately moved to the scene to investigate and examine the CCTV footage.

Based on the investigation, police officers subsequently located the perpetrator in the Kapuk area of Cengkareng.

On 18 June 2026, police succeeded in arresting suspect O along with the motorcycle as evidence.

“We have completed an examination report (BAP) on the perpetrator. During questioning, it emerged that the perpetrator has never committed a criminal offence before and is not a repeat offender,” he said.

Rahis added that, based on the interrogation, the suspect admitted to brazenly stealing his boss’s motorcycle for economic reasons.

“The reason for the theft was economic need, to support his family. His urine test came back negative for drugs,” he explained.

For his actions, the suspect has been charged under Article 477 concerning Aggravated Theft.
