The inaugural hearing regarding the lawsuit over the controversial Four Pillars Smart Quiz Competition (Lomba Cerdas Cermat/LCC) held by the Indonesian Parliament (MPR) in West Kalimantan took place today. The hearing was held at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus).

“The inaugural hearing is on 2 June,” said the spokesperson for PN Jakpus, Sunoto, to journalists on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Sunoto stated that the composition of the judicial panel for the lawsuit has also been determined.

“The composition of the panel that will adjudicate the case consists of Chief Judge Ummi Kusuma Putri, accompanied by panel members I Gusti Ngurah Partha Bhargawa and Zeni Zenal Mutaqin,” he said.

For context, advocate David Tobing is suing the MPR, two jurors, and the master of ceremony (MC) of the Four Pillars Smart Quiz Competition in West Kalimantan, which faced widespread criticism over unprofessional judging of SMAN 1 Pontianak’s performance. The plaintiff contends that the defendants committed unlawful acts that caused harm to several parties.

David alleges that the defendants have violated Article 1365 of the Indonesian Civil Code (KUHPerdata). David stated that the jurors and MC acted carelessly and disregarded professional standards.

In his lawsuit, David contends that the defendants committed unlawful conduct. David seeks to have MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani dismiss jurors Dyastasita and Indri Wahyuni without honour.

“To order Defendant I (H. Ahmad Muzani as Chair of the Indonesian Parliament) to summarily dismiss Defendant II (Dyastasita Widya Budi, S.Sos.) and Defendant III (Indri Wahyuni, S.I.P., M.A.) as employees of the Indonesian Parliament,” David stated.

“To condemn Defendant IV (Shindy Luthfiana) and prohibit her from serving as a presenter at official state events, at regional, central, or national levels,” he added.

Additionally, David requested that the two jurors issue a public apology. The defendants were asked to pay all court costs.

“To condemn Defendant II (Dyastasita Widya Budi, S.Sos.), Defendant III (Indri Wahyuni, S.I.P., M.A.), and Defendant IV (Shindy Luthfiana) to publish an apology in three national print newspapers spanning half a page each. To condemn all defendants to pay all court costs in this case,” he stated.

MPR Respects Judicial Process

The MPR responded to the inaugural hearing regarding the lawsuit over the Four Pillars Smart Quiz Competition controversy in West Kalimantan. The MPR stated it will respect the judicial process.

“We respect the judicial process and will follow it accordingly,” said Acting Secretary General of the MPR, Siti Fauziah, to journalists on Sunday (31/5).

Siti addressed one of the claims in the lawsuit, specifically the request for the MPR to dismiss jurors Dyastasita and Indri Wahyuni without honour. She stated that in determining sanctions, the MPR adheres to the regulations of the State Personnel Board (BKN) and Government Regulation (PP) Number 94 of 2021.

“We follow the rules of the BKN and PP No. 94 of 2021 to determine whether any regulations have been violated,” she said.

Siti stated that an in-depth examination of the conduct of the two jurors is still ongoing. She noted that no conclusion has yet been reached.

“We are still examining it,” she added.
