The Judicial Commission (KY) is monitoring three cases that are still in court at the Mataram District Court. The cases are the murder of Brigadier Esco Faska Rely; the murder of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra, a student of Universitas Mataram (Unram); and the gratification case known as the ‘ghost money’ involving three members of the NTB Regional House of Representatives (DPRD NTB).

“KY conducts monitoring to ensure the proceedings run in accordance with statutory provisions and to prevent violations of the judges’ code of ethics and conduct,” said Abhan, head of the KY Division for the Supervision of Judges and Investigations, when met at Mataram District Court on Friday, 22 May 2026.

Abhan explained that the three cases are drawing attention because of public interest and a request from Commission III of the DPR RI. He emphasised that KY is still delving into alleged irregularities by judges during the proceedings.

“We will conduct deeper investigations beyond what is observed in the session. At present, we cannot draw conclusions,” he added.

Abhan outlined that the monitoring of the trial processes is carried out directly by KY representatives or via monitoring by letter. Direct monitoringalso includes video documentation.

“From the monitoring, if there are suspected judicial violations, we will certainly follow up further, but this will be done after a thorough examination of the monitoring results,” he said.

For clarity, the murder case of Brigadier Esco Faska Rely involves six defendants. They are Brigadier Rizka Sintiyani, Siaun, Nuraini, Paozi, and Dani Rifkan.

Next, the murder case of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra involves defendant Radiet Adiansyah. Meanwhile, the trial of the NTB DPRD’s ‘ghost money’ gratification case comprises three defendants: Hamdan Kasim, Indra Jaya Usman, and Muhammad Nashib Ikroman.

Currently, all three cases are still in the examination phase. Abhan stressed that KY will monitor these trials up to the verdict stage.

“We will monitor until the processes are completed in court and even to the cassation level,” he concluded.
