Judicial Commission Opens Selection for 11 Supreme Court Judge Candidates and 2 Ad Hoc Judges
The Judicial Commission (KY) has opened the registration selection for candidates for Supreme Court Judges and Ad Hoc Judges of the Supreme Court (MA) for 2026. KY has revealed the number of Supreme Court Judges and Ad Hoc Judges needed.
“Based on the Letter from the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Non-Judicial Affairs Number 19/WKMA.NY/KP.1.1.1/II/2026 dated 25 February 2026, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia requires Supreme Court Judges as follows: 2 for the Civil Chamber, 4 for the Criminal Chamber, 2 for the Religious Chamber, and 3 for the State Administrative Chamber specifically for Tax,” said KY Spokesperson Anita Kadir at the KY building in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).
Anita also revealed the number of Ad Hoc Supreme Court Judges needed. Anita mentioned there are 3 vacancies for Ad Hoc Judges in the fields of Human Rights (HAM) and Corruption Crimes (Tipikor).
“And the need for Supreme Court Ad Hoc Judges based on the Letter from the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Non-Judicial Affairs Number 20/WKMA.NY/KP.1.1.1/II/2026 dated 25 February 2025, requires 3 Ad Hoc Judges at the MA, namely 2 for Ad Hoc HAM and 1 for Ad Hoc Tipikor,” she said.
Anita explained that the selection stages are almost the same as in previous years. Proposals from KY will then be submitted to the DPR.
“We carry out the selection stages such as receiving proposals or registration, then administrative selection, followed by fitness tests such as quality selection, health and personality selection, then open interviews. Subsequently, determination of passing candidates and we then submit proposals to the DPR RI,” she said.
Anita stated that KY is still accepting registrations until 16 April 2026. Prospective participants must complete various administrative documents, starting from curriculum vitae, diplomas, wealth reports, to stamped statements affirming commitment to independence and freedom from conflicts of interest.

Devout to God Almighty
Holding a master’s degree in law with a bachelor’s degree in law or another bachelor’s degree with expertise in law
At least 45 (forty-five) years old
Physically and mentally capable of carrying out duties and obligations
At least 20 (twenty) years of experience as a judge, including having served as a high court judge
Never subjected to moderate or severe sanctions for violations of the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Judge Conduct (KEPPH).

Indonesian Citizen
Devout to God Almighty
At least 45 (forty-five) years old
Physically and mentally capable of carrying out duties and obligations
At least 20 (twenty) years of experience in the legal profession and/or legal academia
Holding a doctoral and master’s degree in law with expertise in a specific field of law according to the selected chamber, based on a bachelor’s degree in law or another bachelor’s degree with expertise in law
Never sentenced to imprisonment based on a court decision that has gained legal force due to committing a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment of 5 (five) years or more
Never subjected to disciplinary violation sanctions.
