Judicial Commission Examines Ethics of Two Depok District Court Judges Named as KPK Suspects, to Recommend Sanctions Imminently
The Judicial Commission (KY) has examined the Chief and Deputy Chief of Depok District Court (PN), I Wayan Eka Mariarta and Bambang Setyawan, who are currently detained by the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK). The KY is preparing recommendations concerning alleged ethics violations committed by both individuals.
“Of course, we will prepare recommendations which we will then discuss and decide during a plenary meeting of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Desmihardi, Deputy Chair of the KY, at the KPK building on Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, on Friday (13 March 2026).
He stated that the recommendations would be submitted to the Supreme Court (MA). He noted that the KY supports Supreme Court Chief Sunarto’s stance of showing no tolerance for violations.
“If we follow the position of the Supreme Court Chief regarding this transactional matter, dismissal or imprisonment would be the outcome. That is the indication,” Desmihardi explained.
He stated that the operation to catch officials in the act (OTT) demonstrated alleged violations. Nevertheless, he requested that all parties await the ethics enforcement process.
“From an ethics perspective, we view the very fact that an OTT was conducted as an ethics violation in our assessment. Therefore, this requires further investigation and deepening,” he stated.
Previously, the KPK authorised the KY to conduct ethics examinations of I Wayan Eka Mariarta and Bambang Setyawan. The KY examined both judges at the KPK building.
“With regard to the examination conducted by the Judicial Commission against the Chief and Deputy Chief of Depok District Court who have been designated as suspects by the KPK in an alleged corruption offence relating to land dispute execution, the KPK views this step as part of inter-agency synergy in ensuring accountability and integrity of law enforcement officers,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Friday (13 March).
The case against both individuals originated from the KPK’s operation to catch officials in the act. The KPK subsequently designated Depok District Court Chief I Wayan Eka Mariarta, Deputy Chief Bambang Setyawan (both now inactive), and Depok District Court Process Server Yohansyah as suspects in a bribery case concerning land dispute handling. They were arrested in an operation that involved a dramatic chase.
The list of suspect identities is as follows:
I Wayan Eka Mariarta (EKA), Chief of Depok District Court;
Bambang Setyawan (BBG), Deputy Chief of Depok District Court;
Yohansyah Maruanaya (YOH), Process Server at Depok District Court;
Trisnadi Yulrisman (TRI), Managing Director of PT KD;
Berliana Tri Ikusuma (BER), Head of Corporate Legal at PT KD.
Eka and Bambang are alleged to have requested a fee of 1 billion rupiah for handling the case. In addition to the alleged bribery charge, Bambang faces an alleged gratification charge. He is suspected of receiving gratification stemming from deposits from a foreign exchange transaction valued at 2.5 billion rupiah from PT DMV during the 2025–2026 period.
