Judges in Andrie Yunus case urged to handle proceedings transparently
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai has urged the military judges and prosecutors handling the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus to work transparently and prioritise the principle of justice.
“I request that the military prosecutors and judges fully open the process to the public so that it can be closely followed,” Pigai said during a press conference at the Ministry of Human Rights office in South Jakarta on Monday.
According to Pigai, this aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s order to resolve the case thoroughly and fairly.
Pigai himself admitted that from the outset, his side had issued the strongest condemnation of this case.
According to him, the acid splashing act is an act of thuggery that must be addressed because it threatens all aspects of people’s rights.
Pigai hopes the trial process can proceed conducive, transparently, and without intervention to achieve justice.
Head of the Jakarta Military Court II-08, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, stated that the first hearing of this case is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda for the first hearing is the reading of the indictment.
Fredy said the defendants will be presented directly in the courtroom. Their presence is mandatory as part of the process of reading the indictment by the military prosecutor.
The Jakarta Military Court II-08 also assured that the trial will be open to the public.
“The trial is open to the public, just like in civil courts. The public and media are welcome to attend to monitor the proceedings,” Fredy said at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Thursday (16/4).
