Judges Hand Down Sentences to Six Defendants in Tanihub Case
The panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court handed down sentences on Thursday to six defendants in the corruption and money laundering case related to investments by MDI Ventures and BRI Ventures in PT Tani Group Indonesia (Tanihub). The defendants received varying prison terms and fines. Aldi Adrian Hartanto and William Gozali were each sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of Rp250 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 90 days in custody. Nicko Widjaja received a three-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp350 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 110 days in custody. Donald Surjana Wihardja was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp750 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 165 days in custody. Edison TPL Tobing was sentenced to seven years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of 190 days in custody, and ordered to pay restitution of Rp1.05 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of three years in prison. Ivan Arie Sustiawan received the heaviest sentence of nine years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of 190 days in custody, and was ordered to pay restitution of Rp3.2 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of four years in prison.
