Judge Requests Andrie Yunus's Presence in Acid Attack Case Hearing
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The presiding judge, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, has requested that the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta summon Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, as a victim witness in the acid attack case involving four TNI soldier defendants at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta.
The request was made by Fredy during the hearing for the reading of the indictment in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus. This is because the victim’s name was not listed as a witness in the indictment document.
“I ask the prosecutors, where is the victim? Why hasn’t a statement been taken from them? That is the substance of this case. We need to determine whether this is a serious injury, minor injury, or what kind,” questioned Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto to the prosecutors at the Military Court II-08 on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
The Military Prosecutor then explained that Andrie Yunus had been summoned twice to provide a statement as a victim witness.
However, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) stated that the victim was not yet able to give a statement due to his health condition.
“Your Honour, please allow me to explain. We plan that during the trial, after we have called our eight witnesses to give statements, we will request an additional witness, namely Mr Andrie Yunus, through the LPSK,” replied the Military Prosecutor.
The judge considered the victim’s testimony to be important. Therefore, the panel requested that the military prosecutors find a solution so that the victim can still provide testimony in the trial.
“If, for example, he can give testimony, even if accompanied by the LPSK or a doctor, that’s no problem. If not, I have the authority to summon him,” said Fredy.
“Accompanied by the LPSK during the trial. Even if he cannot attend physically, if he cannot attend physically, he can attend via vicon (video conference), using Zoom, that’s fine, and it will be accommodated,” he added.
Therefore, Fredy asked the Prosecutor to endeavour to ensure the victim’s presence in the acid attack trial.
Previously, the Head of the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, confirmed that the case file submitted had met the formal requirements.
“We have received the decision to hand over the case from the Papera, so the case with register number 55/K/207/ALAU IV/2026 dated 13 April 2026 has been transferred from the Military Prosecutor 207 Jakarta to the Military Court 208 Jakarta,” said Andri at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday.
In addition to the case file, the Military Prosecutor’s Office also handed over the evidence, the suspects, and eight witnesses consisting of five military members and three civilians.
