Judge Rejects Resbob's Objection, Case Over Sundanese Defamation Proceeds
A judge at the Bandung District Court (PN Bandung) has rejected the objection filed by Adimas Firdaus Putra Nasihan, also known as Resbob. This interlocutory ruling allows the hearing on alleged defamation against the Sundanese people to proceed to the examination of the substantive criminal charges.
The interlocutory ruling was delivered at PN Bandung on Monday, 9 March 2026. The public prosecutor (JPU) from the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar), Sukanda, stated that the judge rejected Resbob’s objection and confirmed that the prosecution’s charges conform to legal requirements.
“The objection has been rejected, and in accordance with the law, the charges we have filed conform to legal requirements. Essentially, the Bandung District Court has the authority to adjudicate this case and to proceed with it,” he said, as reported by detikJabar.
In response to the interlocutory ruling, Resbob’s lawyer, Fidelis Giawa, expressed that he did not dispute the outcome of his client’s failed objection.
“We welcome it, no problem. It is natural that the legal adviser’s opinion differs from the public prosecutor’s opinion and the panel’s opinion during court proceedings,” he said on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Resbob had previously filed the objection after contending that the prosecution’s charges were premature. One of the points he raised was the location of the alleged crime (TKP) in the case of defamation against the Sundanese people, which occurred in Surabaya.
Resbob also requested that his trial be transferred from Bandung to the Surabaya District Court. His primary reason was that two of the three key witnesses are located in the city of Surabaya.
