Judge receives anti-graft award

PADANG, West Sumatra: The Masyarakat Profesional Madani (MPM) bestowed on Wednesday its Anti-Graft Fighter Award 2004 to justice Bustami Nusyirwan for fighting corruption in West Sumatra province.

Bustami, president of the Padang District Court, was awarded for his courage in sentencing 43 West Sumatra provincial councillors to jail for corruption.

The MPM was established last year in Jakarta by 15 professionals, including economist Anggito Abimanyu and television presenter Ira Koesno. Last year, the award went to economist Faisal Basri. -- JP
