Judge Postpones First Hearing of MPR Quiz Competition Lawsuit: What is Happening?

The first hearing for the lawsuit concerning the 2026 MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) at the West Kalimantan provincial level has been postponed until next week, Tuesday, 9 June 2026.

The case, registered under number 335/Pdt.G/2026/PN Jkt.Pst, names the Speaker of the MPR, Ahmad Muzani, as the first defendant, alongside Dyasita Widya Budi (II), Indri Wahyuni (III), and Shindy Luthfiana (IV). The lawsuit was filed by David Tobing.

The postponement occurred because the defendants have yet to complete their legal standing documentation, requiring them to finalise these details before the proceedings can move forward. “It is our practice to ensure everything is completed first. The essence is that everything must be clear before we proceed to the next stage,” stated the Presiding Judge. He added that the court has rescheduled the session for 9 June to allow the defendants to complete their legal standing.

On the other hand, the plaintiff, David Tobing, expressed his appreciation for the defendants’ presence at the Central Jakarta District Court. “As the plaintiff, both the principal and the legal counsel, we welcome the presence of the first defendant through their counsel, as well as the second, third, and fourth defendants through their counsel,” he said. He stated that he leaves it entirely to the Panel of Judges to reschedule the trial. “We leave it to the panel; if the original documents must be presented first, that is better so that everything can be cleared and we can proceed with clarity,” he concluded.

Previously, the lawsuit regarding the MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition in West Kalimantan entered the trial stage. The Central Jakarta District Court had initially scheduled the first hearing for early next week. Sunoto, a spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, announced that the first agenda was originally set for Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

The lawsuit was filed by advocate David Tobing after the execution of the competition in West Kalimantan drew public scrutiny. In this case, David is suing the Speaker of the MPR, two jurors, and the presenters involved in the event. According to David, the actions of the defendants have caused losses and constitute unlawful acts.
