Judge Orders Military Prosecutor to Present KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus at Next Week's Acid Attack Trial
JAKARTA - The presiding judge of the panel, Fredy Ferdian, ordered the Military Prosecutor to present KontraS activist Andrie Yunus at the trial for the acid attack case on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
The prosecutor explained that Andrie Yunus was unable to attend today’s hearing on Wednesday (6/5/2026) because he was scheduled to undergo skin graft surgery.
Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi revealed that his side was endeavouring to secure Andrie Yunus’s attendance to provide testimony at the trial.
“Please, we will summon him again later because today and tomorrow he will certainly be recovering and under care. Perhaps summon him again on the 13th, 13 May,” said the judge during the hearing at the Jakarta Military Court, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
“Yes, Wednesday the 13th. So that will be our second alternative, we will use video conference,” the judge stated.
“Affirmative, we will use video conference,” the prosecutor replied.
In today’s witness examination hearing, eight witnesses were presented, consisting of three civilians and five TNI members.
The judge also explained that if Andrie could not attend in person at the Military Court, the panel of judges would visit the hospital to conduct the examination on site.
“For example, if he still cannot attend even via video conference, we will go there. We will carry out the examination on site,” the judge revealed.
The four defendants are Sersan Dua Edi Sudarko, Lieutenant One (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lettu Sami Lakka.
The motive was that they felt offended by Andrie Yunus for issuing instructions at the Fairmont Jakarta hotel on 16 March 2025.
“The defendants considered that Mr Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the hearing at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday.
The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023.
