Judge Declares State Loss of USD 113 Million Due to LNG Corruption Case
The panel of judges has declared that the alleged corruption case in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has resulted in a state loss of USD 113,839,186, or approximately Rp 1.9 trillion. The judges stated that the two defendants in this case were proven to have abused their positions.
The sentencing hearing for the alleged LNG corruption case was held at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (4/5/2026). The two defendants in this case are former Director of Gas at PT Pertamina, Hari Karyuliarto, and former VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Pertamina’s Gas Directorate, Yenni Andayani.
“It has been proven that they abused their positions as outlined in the considerations above, which caused a state loss amounting to USD 113,839,186.60 based on the investigative audit report by the Financial Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the calculation of state losses from the LNG procurement at Corpus Christi Liquefaction for PT Pertamina and related institutions,” stated judge member Hiashinta Fransiska Manalu.
The judges stated that this case was also proven to have enriched the former President Director of PT Pertamina, Karen Galaila Kardinah alias Karen Agustiawan. The judges stated that this LNG procurement also enriched the US company, Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL).
“It has been proven to have benefited witness Galaila Karen and Corpus Christi Liquefaction,” stated the judge.
Previously, Hari Karyuliarto had been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. The judges stated that Hari was proven guilty of committing corruption jointly in the LNG procurement.
“Declares defendant I Hari Karyuliarto and defendant II Yenni Andayani proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal act of corruption jointly and continuously as charged in the second indictment by the Public Prosecutor,” stated the chief judge Suwandi while reading the verdict at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (4/5).
“Imposes a prison sentence on Defendant I Hari Karyuliarto of 4 years and 6 months,” added the judge.
The judges also sentenced Hari to pay a fine of Rp 200 million. If the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 80 days.
The judges also read the verdict for defendant Yenni Andayani. The judges sentenced Yenni to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million, subsidiary 80 days imprisonment.
The judges stated that Hari and Yenni were proven guilty of abusing their authority. The judges stated that the actions of Hari and Yenni in this case have harmed the state finances by USD 113,839,186.
