The Semarang Corruption Court panel of judges has issued an acquittal verdict for Yuddy Renaldi, former President Director of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten, Tbk (BJB), in the alleged corruption case regarding the provision of credit facilities to PT Sritex, which harmed the regional government-owned bank by approximately Rp670 billion. “We declare the defendant not proven guilty according to the entirety of the public prosecutor’s indictment,” stated Chief Judge Rommel Franciskus Tampubolon during the hearing in Semarang on Thursday. In the trial, the panel examined the public prosecutor’s subsidiary charges, namely violations of Article 603 of the Criminal Code or Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended. According to the judges, there was never any order, pressure, or intervention from the defendant to process PT Sritex’s credit application. He stated that the defendant actually requested that the credit application be processed in accordance with the provisions. “There is no evidence that the defendant abused authority or position in deciding on the credit application,” he said. Furthermore, he noted that no subjective fault or malicious intent was found, whether in the form of intent or negligence. “The defendant had no intention to act unlawfully. The legal consequences that occurred in this case are not a result of the defendant’s actions, but from other parties outside the defendant’s knowledge, power, or will,” he said. He added that the defendant was also unaware of the financial reporting manipulations carried out by PT Sritex. In its verdict, the court ordered the defendant’s immediate release upon the reading of the decision. The judges also ordered the restoration of the defendant’s capacity, status, rights, and dignity due to not being proven guilty in all of the prosecutors’ charges. Regarding the verdict, the judges permitted the public prosecutor to pursue further legal remedies. Previously, the Public Prosecutor had demanded a 10-year prison sentence for Yuddy Renaldi in the case.
